Your firstsession.

Most people hesitate because they do not know what the hour looks like. Here it is, start to finish.

  1. 01

    Arrive and wrap up

I meet you at the door, show you round and wrap your hands. Gloves and wraps are here if you do not own any.

  2. 02

    Warm up and stance

Skipping or shadow work to get loose, then the part everything is built on: how you stand, move and hold your hands.

  3. 03

    The jab, then combinations

One punch properly before anything else. Then the cross, then shots together on the pads so you get corrected as you go.

  4. 04

    Bag work and conditioning

Rounds on the heavy bag at your own pace, then conditioning scaled to your fitness.

  5. 05

    What next

What to work on and how often to train for what you want. No sales pitch, no sign-up form.

Commonquestions.

Do I need to be fit before I start?

No. You get fit by boxing rather than before it. A first session is scaled to whoever is in front of me, so a complete beginner and someone who has trained for years do not do the same hour.

Do I need my own gloves?

No. Gloves and wraps are here if you do not own any. Bring trainers, training clothes and water.

How long is a session?

A full hour, not fifty minutes.

How often should I train?

Once a week is enough to keep learning. Twice a week is where most people see real change in fitness and technique together. Three times suits people chasing something specific.

Can I bring a friend?

Yes, and it is cheaper per person. Up to six people can train together as a private group at R250 each.

Where is the gym?

Third floor of the Clarensville Building, 56 Regent Road, Sea Point, minutes from Green Point, Mouille Point, Bantry Bay, Fresnaye and the V&A Waterfront.
